New Endurance Deep Backset perimeter frame can simplify designs, saving time and budget
We recently launched our new Deep Backset Frame option for the Endurance Series, which allows for a 6-inch-deep frame, simplifying common recessed window glazing designs for potential time and money savings. The new option also provides highly desirable shadow lines, and better accommodates surrounding materials such as brick or exterior insulation. This option works with our longstanding Endurance Series system, giving you a choice to use the system for large continuous frame configurations that are either 3 ½ or 6 inches deep.
How Endurance Deep Backset Frame simplifies designs
The Endurance Deep Backset Frame can be used to simplify a commonly seen recessed window detail. In many designs, a 2×4 is placed within a 2×6 wall to create a recessed plane for a nail-flanged window to be installed. This requires finish materials to bridge the gap between the face of the building and the window.
When the Endurance Deep Backset Frame is incorporated, the finish materials used to bridge the gap between the window and the face of the building can be removed, as can the 2x4s within the wall system. The Deep Backset Frame can be installed directly into the 2×6 wall, while still maintaining a recessed glazing plane and accommodating the exterior finish on the facade. This saves money by eliminating the need for additional lumber, flashing, and finish materials and reducing the amount of labor needed to create and design the detail. It also potentially improves performance as it simplifies the complexity of the waterproofing—the building envelope functions better with reduced risk of water intrusion in an area known to cause problems.
“Our new Deep Backset Frame window is designed to simplify installation and reduce costs. By eliminating the need for additional lumber, flashing, and finish materials, it streamlines the construction process and cuts down on labor. This innovation not only saves time and money but also enhances the overall performance of the building envelope.”
